About me
My name is Silvia Vlášková, I graduated with a Master’s Degree in French and Italian Language and Literature at Comenius University in Bratislava and have completed my M.Ed.
I am a fully qualified teacher with over 20 years of experience in a variety of educational settings. I have dedicated my entire professional life to teaching languages.
I have extensively taught different age groups: from children, to teens, to adults. I began teaching Italian and French Language and Literature at the bilingual High School Gymnázium L. Sáru in Bratislava. Thereafter, I taught Slovak to translators and interpreters at Civica Scuola Interpreti e Traduttori A. Spinelli Fondazione Milano and Slovak Language and Literature for 15 years at the European School in Varese, Italy. In this school, which is unique for its curricula in any language of the European Union, I taught Slovak to pupils at nursery and Primary School level, as well as students at Secondary School level. At the European School I had the opportunity to work and exchange experiences with colleagues from different European countries and have developed valuable know-how of online teaching.
The idea of the project Slovenčinalab is related to my extensive professional experience as well as my own personal background as a mother of a child from a bilingual family. I hope children and young learners can enjoy communicating in Slovak and discovering the Slovak culture through Slovenčinalab.
